The European Rail Freight Association is concerned that some MEPs at the European Parliament are trying to sabotage plans for an open-access cross-border rail network.  This is considered essential for rail freight to compete with road freight.  The German railways particularly have been arguing against prioritising freight trains, as it would disrupt passenger services.
