Chennai is set to become the main international container hub port in India in 30 years time.  There will eventually be three terminals, and a new outer harbour with deeper draft to accommodate the latest types of shipping.  The newest terminal, which is currently out for tender, will be able to handle 5M TEU of freight per year.
