Capable of holding over 50% more cargo than a 40ft container APL will be using 53ft containers betwwen Asia and the USA. The conatiners have been made in China and are specially strengthened to withstand deep sea shipping. Because they will not fit in the cellular structure of a container ship they will be stowed on deck.
