The once-in-a-century weather conditions in Queensland, Australia, have forced some coal exporter to invoke force majeure as they have been unable to fulfil coal contracts to their overseas customers. The severe rain and flooding have disrupted freight and shipping operations, and two main rail freight routes have also been closed. Mining groups have been unable to operate, and will not be able to meet their export targets, which has led to stock in mining companies and rail freight operators being negatively affected.
