In the first four months of 2023, goods from China accounted for only 17.9% of US apparel imports in value, and 30.6% in volume. In 2019, China’s share of US apparel imports had been approximately 30% in value.
Notably, China’s share of US cotton clothing imports has now fallen below 10%, a direct effect of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) introduced by the US government.
