Russia and Ukraine are both major exporters of grain and coal. Importers in China are likely to source supplies from more distant countries such as the US and Australia. Because of the longer distance travelled freight transport costs will probably rise.
The conflict is likely to increase demand for ocean freight, lead to the shutdown of some ports, block some shipping routes, and stimulate Europe to stockpile necessities. The shortage of container transport in the global supply chain will probably intensify.
