Gin made in Japan, especially craft gin, is becoming more popular for its distinct flavour, with exports of the distilled alcoholic beverage reaching an all-time high in 2021.
Japan exported 3,714 kilolitres of gin between January and October in 2021. The export value in the first 10 months of 2021 surpassed the ¥2.28 billion for the whole of 2019, which was the previous all-time high.
There has been a significant increase in exports since 2016 on the back of a global boom in demand for gin.
