China has imported US$30 million worth of copper concentrate from Australia. They have also increased imports of cotton from the country in spite of international sanctions over Xinjiang China unoffically banned the proudcts in November last year.
Chinese importers also bought most of Australia’s bumper wheat harvest for the 2021-22 season, making it the country’s largest import buyer as global supplies begin to fall.
Global shortages and political tensions have forced China to import Australian products, especially as its economy has bounced back from the coronavirus pandemi. There are few signs the trend will be permanent.
