Kenya’s exports amounted to 72,000 tonnes of avocados last year, up from 59,000 tonnes recorded in 2019. The head of the Horticultural Crops Directorate, said that the increase in export volumes was “partly due to enhanced cultivation of avocado by Kenyan farmers over the past five years.”
Europe is one of the Kenya’s major export markets for avocados and took the majority of the product.
A small volume was exported to China; Kenyan exporters continue to work on meeting the conditions set by the Chinese government to warrant the exports of avocados in large quantities.
