A new crossing between Halmstad in Sweden and Grenaa in Denmark will offer considerable freight capacity as well as passenger facilities.
The Transport minister of Denmark attended the opening ceremony in Grenaa; the objective is Stena Line’s to double both the previous passenger and freight volumes within five years.
The vessel takes 4 hours 35 minutes make the crossing and will do two departures per day. Halmstad is 70 kilometres south east of Varberg, the previously used port, and therefore makes for a shorter sea crossing.
The shipping line says that from a freight perspective there is a lot of potential to carry more trailers from Denmark to Sweden.
