Work has commenced on the Rs 4328 crore project to build the 320-kilometre stretch of the western dedicated freight corridor. This will be a dedicated freight line connecting Delhi and Mumbai, and is expectedto be completed within 48 months.
“This project is an important milestone towards modernization of India’s rail freight transportation,” said the Managing Director of the Project Management company.
Segregating freight traffic from passenger traffic will pave the way for high speed movement of freight, and is one of the most important Infrastructure projects taken up by Indian Railways.
