The governments of France and Italy have approved the building of a high-speed rail link between Lyon and Turin. The link should reduce the journey time by about two hours, making Paris just over four hours from Milan compared with seven hours currently.  The French Transport Users union has given its support, saying that the construction will allow the cost of rail freight to be significantly reduced.
