A report issued jointly by a shipping consultancy and the Bremen Institue of Shipping Economics and Logistics, warns that freight rates will remain low next year unless carriers reduce the amount of capacity available. The report suggests that shipping volumes will be flat in December with any increase well below those of 2010.

The report projects volumes for the next six months, and an additional two quarter forecast of inbound and outbound container movements for the six major container ports in North Europe;– le Havre, Antwerp, Zeebrugge, Rotterdam, Bremen/Bremerhaven and Hamburg.
