New Rail Freight Line
The Department for Transport has given permission to Network Rail to build a new freight line in Warwickshire. The short, 1 km long section, will form a link between the cross-country ri rail route from Felixstowe to Nuneaton with the west coast main line. This will allow freight trains to go directly from the port of Felixstowe to the economic markets in the West Midlands and northwest England without affecting passenger services. Starting in spring 2011, the work should take about eighteen months to complete.
