Freight Transport Association Lobbies Government
The Freight Transport Association has asked the Under Secretary of State for Transport to commission a study on the impact of ever-increasing tolls on the Severn Crossing. The FTA says that tolls continue to rise even though they are already the most expensive in the UK, and that this adversely affects freight and haulage companies who have to use the Crossing to and from Wales. The FTA would welcome a more flexible way of charging – cheaper rates for hauliers at off-peak times for example – and hopes that this will be the first stage in a full investigation.
