New Rail Freight Germany-Italy

A new cargo service is being set up by the Swiss Government in conjunction with a major international rail freight carrier. The company will handle transalpine freight along the north-south corridor between Germany and Italy. An inter-modal freight operator will hold 25% of the shares in the new company; the cargo division of Swiss Federal Railways will hold the balance. The new firm will provide 480 jobs.
