Air freight backlog
The lack of capacity on air freight routes from China and Hong Kong is spreading to the rest of Asia, with the result that rates are increasing and freight is facing longer and longer delays. Volumes increased so much in November that some freight is waiting eight to ten days in Hong Kong, and the situation seems to be deteriorating. Bangkok, Singapore and Taipei are also building up backlogs, and freight forwarders are fighting for space on flights to Europe.
