"Since I have dealt with the exports (past 4+ years). I have never experienced any problems. The service is very good and runs smoothly. The export team religously contact me, to prompt me for export bookings which should have been made. The communication between our companies is fantastic. I wouldn't alter a thing! "

Refrigerated freight - matching supply and demand?

Posted on 15.07.2008

Since the late 1990s there has been a huge increase in the freight volume of foods and pharmaceutical products requiring temperature-controlled equipment.  The total volume increased by about 51% in the ten years from 1997 to 2007; most of this was in fruit and vegetables, but the fastest growing food commodity is fish, much of it from South America.  There is a shortage of both refrigerated shipping and containers.  Much of the shipping fleet is obsolescent, and will be going out of service within the next few years.  The increase in temperature-controlled containers may not be able to compensate for this and there is a shortage of capacity for building new ships.
